Can uncertified people draw blood legally?

I'm a nursing student who has the opportunity to get some experience drawing blood, but I'm not sure on the legality of this issue. I'm not certified, but I have been unofficially trained how to do it. Can anyone offer me some advice? Particularly for the state of Michigan?
