Is it true NASA tried to ignite Jupiter in the year 2000 to make a second sun?

This vaguely sounds like the Galileo probe, which was launched in 1989 and crashed into Jupiter in 2003. This was done at the end of the spacecraft's useful lifetime to prevent contamination of Jupiter's moons by Earth bacteria. The plutonium on board was used to generate electricity and was not capable of exploding. Jupiter has far too little m to ignite and become a star. This is one of the silliest conspiracy theories around.
