Are we spending way too much time and money on AIDS research, considering it is a preventable disease?
There are no more cases of AIDS/HIV contraction through blood transfusion. Therefore, the only way to contact it (barring some one in a million freak occurrence) is through direct fluid exchange. Unprotected and IV drug use. If everyone in the world simply wore a condom during and did not share needles, AIDS cases would be down around Meningitis or Syphilis levels. Considering that stopping careless behavior would practically eradicate the virus, are we spending too many resources on AIDS when there are so many other diseases that are not caused by careless behavior killing or affecting millions?
