What determines how smooth a horses gaits are?

it can but confo is not everything. I'v seen horses with bad confo being smother then ones that have great conformation. it also has to with with ow there parents moved as traits are also ped down. my peruvian paso mare. she is so comfortable! she's like riding a couch :) her trot is awesome and her canter is like a big smooth rocking horse.
